From the desk of Priya Anand

I killed my first eleven houseplants. The twelfth one taught me everything.

Number one died of too much love — I watered it every single day, twice on weekends. Number four died of neglect while I overcorrected. Somewhere around number eleven I stopped fighting and started paying attention.

That's the whole trick, and it's the whole product: plants don't need more from you. They need you to notice — a leaf that's a shade too yellow, a pot that's lighter than it was yesterday, a window that gets less light than you think it does.

Fern is the app that notices for you, so you can learn the habit instead of learning the hard way. Welcome to the jungle.

Questions, answered.

How accurate is the plant ID?+
Fern IDs over 3,400 species with a snap, and learns from corrections the community makes. Uncommon cultivars get better every month.
Does it remind me to water?+
Yes — but only when the plant asks. Reminders adapt to your soil, season, and room light, so you water on the plant's schedule, not a calendar.
Can it save a dying plant?+
Often. Tell the diagnosis tool what you see — yellow leaves, brown tips, drooping — and it gives you a step-by-step rescue plan.
Is it free?+
Yes. Plant ID, care guides, and reminders are free during beta and stay free after launch.
Do I need a sensor?+
No. Fern works from a photo and a few taps. The sensor is optional hardware coming later.
Can I trade plants?+
Yes — the community swap lets you trade cuttings and find rare plants with caretakers nearby.

Your plants are counting on you.
